How to disable location sharing and remove a friend

  • If you only want to stop sharing your location with one buddy, swipe up and tap Stop Sharing My Location.

  1. Play Sound: Plays a sound from your device to assist you in locating it when it is close by.
  2. WARNING: Do not attempt to test this while wearing AirPods. Your hearing will be harmed.
  3. Directions: Will open Maps and provide you with instructions to your device’s current location.
  4. Notifications: If you’re looking for a device and want to be notified if it’s found, turn this option on.
  5. Mark As Lost: When you tap Activate, your device will be marked as ‘lost.’ I’ll get to that later.

 

How to report a device missing

  • If it hasn’t already, launch Find My on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Toggle to the Devices tab. The map should show nearby devices.
  • Tap the device you want to locate.
  • Swipe up and select Activate from the Mark As Lost menu.
  • Continue by pressing the Enter key.
  • Enter your phone number if desired.
  • Next should be selected.
  • Enter a message for someone who might find your device if you want to.
  • Toggle on Activate.
  • Your smartphone will remain locked behind its passcode once it has been marked as lost, as long as it is still available by a wireless signal. Your phone number and message will be displayed on the device if you ordered Find My to do so.

  • On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > General > Find My.
