How to scan documents with iPhone and iPad

How to use the iPhone and iPad’s Notes app’s document scanner | How to scan documents with iPhone and iPad

If you’ve had an iPhone for a while, you’ve definitely tried a number of the top iPhone document scanner applications during your time with it. I’m sure I have. My favorites are a few.

On my iPhone and iPad, I keep a number of them in my Productivity folder.
You’re about to be free of the multi-app grind if you’re tired of storing multiple programs only to scan a business card, flier, or document every now and then.

The document scanner in iOS 15 is concealed within the Notes app, and because it enables in-app sharing, you can save the newly scanned document wherever you wish. Here’s how to do it.

On the iPhone and iPad, how do you scan a document?

On iPhones and iPad, the document scanner is hidden in the Notes app. You’ll have a solidly scanned document ready to mark up, convert to PDF, and share with another app with just a few touches.

  • On your iPhone or iPad, open Notes.
  • To add a document to an existing note, create a new one or touch on an existing one.
  • At the bottom of the screen, or above the keyboard, tap the camera button.
  • Select Scan Documents from the drop-down menu.
  • Arrange the paper you want to scan in a straight line.
  • If the scanner does not scan the paper automatically, press the shutter button. This
  • procedure should be repeated for each document you want to scan.
  • After you’ve scanned all of the essential pages, tap Save. The button will display the number of pages you scanned.

On iPhone and iPad, how to mark a scanned document

You can use any of the built-in markup tools in the Notes app once you’ve scanned a document. You can use the markup tools to add a text box, a shape, or arrows, as well as highlight, handwrite, clip out and move pieces (magic rope style). You may sign documents directly from the Notes app.

  • In your note, tap the scanned document.
  • In the upper-right corner, tap the share icon.
  • Markup is tapped. It’s possible that you’ll have to scroll down the action menu to see this option.
  • Select the tool you want to use by tapping on it.
  • If you want to alter the color of your chosen tool, tap the color picker.
  • To add a text box, signature, magnifier, or shape to your document, press +.
  • Make notes in your document.
  • When you’re finished, tap Done.
  • To return to your note, tap Done.

All of your markup modifications will be saved in the scanned document.

How to create a PDF file from a scanned document

Previously, you had to manually convert scanned documents to PDFs, but the Notes app now performs it for you. However, you must save your scanned document to a location such as the Files app. This is how you can go about doing it.

  • Your scanned document will be tapped.
  • In the upper-right corner, tap the share icon.
  • Tap the app where you wish to save your PDF and follow the app’s file-saving instructions.

On the iPhone and iPad, how do you share a scanned document?

Do you want to send a scanned document to a friend, relative, or coworker? This is simple to perform with the Notes app.

  • Your scanned document will be tapped.
  • In the upper-right corner, tap the share icon.
  • Select the app with whom you’d like to share the note.
  • Share your PDF with others.

On the iPhone and iPad, how do you remove a scanned document?

You can erase a single scan without deleting the entire document if you unintentionally scanned the same document twice or wish to try again after saving a scanned document.

  • Your scanned document will be tapped.
  • In the bottom-right corner, tap the trash can.
  • Select Delete Scan from the drop-down menu.

You’ll just be deleting the scanned page you’ve chosen. Simply erase the note if you wish to destroy the entire document.

To convert some physical documents into digital ones, save them, share them, and more, follow the steps outlined above. You may discover that the Notes app document scanner is sufficient for your needs, and you can stop utilizing the separate app you were previously using.
