Scholarships for International Students at US Colleges and Universities
- American University Scholarships
A small number of generous partial merit scholarships are given by American University (AU) to incoming international first-year undergraduate students who meet the necessary academic requirements.
International students are not eligible for need-based financial assistance. Each academic year, the merit scholarships range in value from US$6,000 to US$25000 (renewable subject to conditions). To apply visit www.american.edu/admissions/international.
- Amherst College Scholarships
Amherst College offers need-based financial aid to international students who are in financial need. Your financial need is established after admission. Then, a financial aid award that meets your need will be presented. Because it may include both self-help (employment) and gift aid, the award is occasionally referred to as an “aid package” (scholarships and grants). - Scholarships at Clark University
The Clark Global Scholars Program, which is available to first-year applicants (not transfer students) who have studied abroad for at least four years, as well as foreign nationals studying in the United States, is offered by Clark University. A guaranteed $2,500 taxable stipend for a paid internship or research assistantship taken for academic credit during the summer following your sophomore or junior year is included with the award, in addition to a scholarship of $15,000 to $25,000 per year (for four years, subject to meeting academic standards for renewal). - Scholarships at Colby-Sawyer College
Financial aid from Colby-Sawyer College is merit-based and available to international students. The scholarship amount can range from $15,000 to $28,000 per year, depending on academic performance (as determined by GPA). The cost of attending college is not fully covered. - Scholarships at Columbia College
Outstanding international students can apply for scholarships and awards from Columbia College. The prizes are one-time cash grants or a 15–100% tuition reduction. To apply visit www.ccis.edu/tuition-financial-aid/scholarships.
- Scholarships for Concordia College
International students at Concordia are valued for their contributions to the university and are happy to receive some financial aid. The International Student Scholarship awards up to $28,000 a year based on academic merit and financial need. International Excellence Scholarships are competitive, merit-based awards given to transfer or first-year international students for up to four years, with a maximum award of $28,000. - Scholarships for Dartmouth College
All admitted undergraduates, including those from other countries, who have demonstrated needs, are accommodated at Dartmouth College.

- University of East Tennessee
New international students seeking a graduate or undergraduate degree are eligible for the International Students Academic Merit Scholarship at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). For undergraduate and graduate students, respectively, the scholarship amounts are $12,500 and $11,500 per academic year. To apply visit www.etsu.edu/international/student-scholar-services.
- East-West Center
Graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States can apply for the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship, which offers funding for up to 24 months of Masters or Doctoral degree study. Participants in the fellowship can take part in the educational, residential, and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate studies at the University of Hawai’i. - Scholarships at Emory University
Every year, a small number of international students are given need-based financial aid awards by Emory College. International applicants are also encouraged to submit an application for partial to full merit-based scholarships through the Emory University Scholars Program (November 15 deadline). - International Scholarships at Michigan State University
A small number of undergraduate and graduate scholarships and grants are offered by Michigan University to deserving international students.

- Wagner Awards at New York University
Each application cycle, a select group of admitted students—including those from abroad—are given the opportunity to apply for merit scholarships.
